Steeleye Span is one of the most influential names in British roots music. Pioneers of folk-rock, Steeleye Span changed the face of folk music forever, taking it out of small clubs and into the world of gold discs and international tours. Members have come and gone over the years, but Steeleye has always remained at the forefront of the genre they helped to define. Steeleye Span formed in 1969, with the vision of playing folk music in a contemporary, electric band format, and, 47 years later the band has become an institution in British music.
Jessie joined Steeleye Span in January 2014, replacing legendary founding member and fiddle player Peter Knight. Since then the band has gone from strength to strength, touring UK, Europe, USA and Canada with Jessie as their violinist and electric violinist, and contributing backing vocals to their inimitable vocal harmonies.
The band has had a busy summer of festivals, including performing at Fairport's Cropredy Convention, while working on their latest album, Dodgy Bastards, which was released in November 2016 and combines original material with settings of traditional ballad words, and also includes Jessie's writing and lead vocal debut. The Dodgy Bastards tour took place across the UK in October 2016.
